This year’s Greater Rochester Quality Council Showcase will focus on recognizing several local organizations for their excellence in applying quality principles and practices to improve their operations and deliver results.

The event, now in its sixth year, is set for 5:30 to 8 p.m. Dec. 7 at Locust Hill Country Club, 2000 Jefferson Road, Pittsford. This year it will feature dozens of exhibits highlighting the achievements of the council’s members, including Carestream Health, Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, Hillside Family of Agencies, Xerox Corp, IEC Electronics, Honeoye Falls-Lima Central Schools, the University of Rochester Medical Center, Rochester Institute of Technology, Monroe Community College and Rochester General Hospital.

"We are very excited to showcase the accomplishments of our members, many of whom have achieved national recognition and accreditation,” said Carol Wilke, GRQC chair. “All have contributed to our local economy and enhanced significantly the quality of life in Rochester."

During the evening, GRQC will also recognize its volunteers who participate in the PENCIL and Rapid Cycle programs, as well as those individuals who recently received their Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and Black Belt certifications, training made possible by a SUNY Workforce Development Grant.

GRQC is an affiliate of the Rochester Business Alliance, and its vision is to make Greater Rochester a national showplace for performance excellence. The organization is comprised of leaders from five sectors, including business, healthcare, government, education, and not-for-profit, and teaches performance improvement tools such as Lean Six Sigma, Malcolm Baldrige, and Quality for Leaders.

GRQC shares best practices and hosts site visits at member organizations. Lean Six Sigma black belt coaches work with teams on Rapid Cycle projects, resulting in efficiencies that enable not-for-profit agencies to provide additional service with the same or fewer resources.

People interested in attending the showcase can register online at www.grqc.org or by contacting Susan George at (585) 256-4612 or sending an email to Susan.George@RBAlliance.com.
