The 2012 officers announced by the Greater Rochester Quality Council (GRQC) include five leaders with extensive experience in performance excellence. They are:

- Chair: Carol Wilke, CFO, Winton Paving and Landscape
- Vice Chair: Kathy Grimes, administrator, The Highlands at Pittsford
- Secretary: Roop Hazarie, director, Rochester General Health System
- Treasurer: Vince Vezza, Quality Professional
- Executive Director: George Hansen, president, Qualve$t

For the second year, GRQC and Monroe Community College Office of Workforce Development have been awarded a grant from the State University at New York. The 2012 grant is for $46,500, and will fund programs aimed at teaching participants how to apply quality methodology, such as Lean Six Sigma, in the workplace, including all five sectors served by GRQC: business, healthcare, education, not for profit, and government.

The training program aims to enhance the skills of workers and help employers operate with higher quality and lower cost within a dynamic economic climate. The grant covers 80 percent of the tuition. The member’s organization contributes 20 percent, plus employee class time away from work. Individuals are also welcome to participate and will be paired with a rapid cycle team to gain experience required for certification.

“More than 300 GRQC members benefited from a $97,500 grant in 2011 and will be certified upon completion of a project,” Wilke said. “Each project promises to deliver thousands of dollars of value to the participant’s organization.”

GRQC, an affiliate of the Rochester Business Alliance, delivers on its vision: “Greater Rochester - a National Showplace for Performance Excellence."
