ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Dec. 13, 2010 - The State University of New York has awarded $90,000 to Monroe Community College to provide customized training in quality assurance and process improvement in collaboration with the Greater Rochester Quality Council (GRQC), an affiliate of the Rochester Business Alliance.

MCC’s Office of Workforce Development will coordinate specialized training that will assist GRQC members with improving quality, streamlining processes and cutting costs in order to remain competitive. Participants will learn methodologies, such as Lean Six Sigma, and develop creative solutions to real issues at their workplace.

The goal of the training program is to enhance the skills of workers and help employers operate with higher quality and lower cost within a rapidly changing economic climate. GRQC membership is composed of area businesses, educational institutions, governmental agencies, health care institutions and not-for-profit organizations.


Monroe Community College is part of the State University of New York, the largest comprehensive university system in the United States. Businesses, schools, nonprofit organizations, government and public agencies receive specialized training offered by MCC’s Office of Workforce Development, Public Safety Training Center, Homeland Security Management Institute, and Agriculture and Life Sciences Institute.

The Greater Rochester Quality Council is a collaborative network of organizations and individuals aimed at stimulating and fostering excellence in the products, services and processes of all organizations and businesses in the community to accelerate economic growth and improve the quality of life in our community.
