How an extraordinary team achieved manufacturing startup in six months - and won a Platinum Award

The Gorbel® Destuff-it® Implementation Project

About the program

At the beginning of the pandemic, Gorbel®, like many other companies, was impacted by a reduction of our customer orders and was challenged with many supply chain complications. Our Executive Leadership Team believed it was critical to introduce new work into our business to minimize the impact on revenue and employee staffing. We engaged a Canadian partner for contract work but after several hours of discussion it was decided that, instead, Gorbel would purchase the company and bring the manufacture of one of our products into a new local facility.  The prohibition of travel across the border limited our ability to obtain the required product and process knowledge from their site. We had to think creatively to get this work accomplished. This is our story…

Learn how Gorbel started up a brand new manufacturing facility and achieved first production of their DT conveyor system in just six months.   The team that achieved this amazing milestone won the George K Hansen Platinum Award at the 2023 Performance Excellence Awards.
